People are tired of not being heard.
Many are leaving social media platforms because it feels ridiculous to post and get no feedback. I get that.
With all the content out there, the attention is spread thinner than before. Your own family might not see the video of your cat doing the thing because they're seeing a stranger's cat doing a different thing.
It makes sense that people are protesting in person again. Online campaigns don't get seen unless they go viral for some reason. You need thousands or tens of thousands of people supporting your cause to go viral, too.
Charities have to post continuously and hope you see one of the dozens of pleas to donate. They have to make it easier to donate, too. There are at least four donate buttons on most campaigns.
And the arts? You'd better up your game, my friends. People need multiple reminders that you're having an event or selling a product. Start months ahead and keep reminding them. Remind them right now. And now. Put it in the subject line.
It seems to get attention anymore you have to get LOUD and cross your fingers.
And you have to keep the attention once you have it. No taking a break for the holidays. Business owners have shared they’re seeing a lower rate of shoppers just because construction in Boise rerouted drivers for months. It's like the people forgot they were there with the new traffic pattern.
Searching online for “how to get your content seen" will bring you eleventy different ways to do it. Most of them boil down to repeating the important things in different ways with different images. Basically, get in there an annoy people.
And, yeah. My clients are annoyed, but at least they remembered to get tickets to Hadestown before it left town.
